Through a design that celebrates serenity, journey, discovery, and authenticity, the resort offers a new standard of refined luxury with modern touches.
Set along Canggu Beach, a renown and vibrant surfer’s paradise, the resort is the first Regent in Indonesia under IHG, marking a fresh chapter in the brand’s evolution in one of the island’s most coveted beachfront destinations. Faced with a narrow beachfront, deep plot and a road that bisected the site, WATG transformed these challenges into a cohesive masterplan that elevates the guest experience through meticulous spatial storytelling.
Guests begin their journey with a moment of decompression, escaping from Canggu’s bustling traffic through a tranquil driveway that leads to the arrival Pavilion. Here, guests are welcomed by a serene water court and a Paras stone carving; the design cues subtly reference Balinese craftsmanship expressed in contemporary form. A covered pathway guides guests to a passageway beneath a reconstructed elevated road—an innovative solution that unifies the site while setting an experiential transition to the resort’s main facilities.
Emerging from the passageway, guests ascend a timber-framed stone stairs into a village-like setting of courtyard gardens, restaurants, Regent Spa & Wellness, fitness and lounge spaces. The covered pathways, bounded by a peaceful landscape design, lead to multiple venues, encouraging guest exploration and a sense of discovery. The journey culminates at The Lounge, framing a dramatic view of the main pool and horizon beyond.
Guest accommodations reflect the resort’s ethos of intimate luxury. Standard Suites offer spacious bed and bathroom areas as well as expansive balconies, some with sweeping ocean views. Penthouses—two-bedroom retreats perched atop the guestroom blocks—feature bale pavilions, plunge pools, large decks, and lush landscape in a villa-like experience. A limited collection of beachfront and garden villas arranged in secluded clusters offers privacy, exclusivity and tranquility amid the lively energy of Canggu.
The architecture language blends traditional Balinese elements with contemporary interpretations—pitched roofs are combined with flat roofs, decorative screens echo filigree bamboo weaving, and andesite stone wall design mimics striking poleng cloth patterns. Materiality is central to the design language. The contrast between the warm undertones of timber and the cool-toned local stones imparts a distinctive aesthetic throughout the resort. The integration of local craft and artisanship to produce the intricate and tactile details in the architecture reinforces a meaningful connection with the island’s heritage.
Culinary and wellness offerings are thoughtfully integrated in the resort’s spatial flow. Open-air trellised pavilions, beachside sheds and village-like spa clusters blur the boundaries between indoors and out while highlighting cultural cues, spatial sequences, and immersive guest journeys.
