After purchasing a 1970s house, our client approached us to make a total metamorphosis of the building. The outdated existing house had to be transformed into a sustainable and modern villa that fits this time. The existing house was solidly built and the spacious layout of the house meant that a lot of changes were possible. In our design we took into account the preservation of as many structural parts as possible. The existing roof disappeared in our design and we placed a new volume on this spot by adding a light building construction (through a timber framed construction) on the villa. All existing exterior walls remained intact and we insulated the exterior and finished it with brick strips, stucco and wood for a warm accent.
