This 1750 square foot, three bedroom apartment located on the 35th floor of a waterside downtown building, is home for an entrepreneurial couple with a young son. The space received a full renovation. Floor to ceiling windows in most rooms influenced all material choices. The home’s relationship to ever present natural light was the guiding principal for the calming layered palette. Wide plank Austrian matte oak floors provide a warmth and tactile experience that establishes a grounding base for the more dynamic terrazzo and organic patterned tile selected for all bathrooms. The critical brief was to remove a space limiting and rarely used glassed in solarium that truncated the kitchen and inhibited a now expansive sense of flow. Substantial and easy access customized storage throughout was a must. The expanded kitchen with the bank of additional base drawers and upper cabinets along with the window seat to the never ending view, the streamlined fourteen foot floating cabinet system running the length of the open concept living and dining area and the reconfigured ensuite closet situated behind the bed in the principal bedroom, all blend seamlessly with the inviting and relaxing space at large, while still providing the ability to truly put everything away.
