RoamStation - Teknion Advanced Concepts 2.0

The future workplace prioritizes user agency, sustainability, and technological integration, shaping environments that adapt to the evolving needs of a dynamic workforce.
Advanced Concepts 2.0 is a research- and design-driven exploration of emerging workplace paradigms developed for Teknion following a competitive design process, in which our team was selected to advance three future workplace concepts.

Positioned between speculation and application, the project investigates how work environments can evolve to support flexibility, wellbeing, and new modes of collaboration.

Conceived to respond to shifting work patterns, heightened wellness expectations, and increasing technological integration, the initiative introduces three concepts – PetPod, RoamStation, and the Nimbus Adaptive Architectural System. Each explores new approaches to flexibility, user agency, and environmental performance, translating research into full-scale spatial propositions that reimagine how workplaces can function, adapt, and support the people who use them.

RoamStation – a mobile, adaptable workstation that responds to user needs across the workspace.

RoamStation is a mobile, modular workstation conceived to support diverse modes of work within hybrid office environments. Developed in response to the shift from fixed seating to more fluid, activity-based workplaces, the desk unit enables seamless transitions between focused individual work and collaborative tasks. An adjustable-height work surface, integrated induction charging, and a adjustable acoustic privacy screen support comfort, flexibility, and concentration throughout the day.

An adjustable-height work surface, integrated induction charging, and an adjustable acoustic privacy screen support comfort, flexibility, and concentration throughout the day. RoamStation can be easily repositioned as needed, allowing spaces to adapt to changing patterns of use, or operate autonomously, returning to a docking station after hours through an intelligent homing system.
