The future workplace prioritizes user agency, sustainability, and technological integration, shaping environments that adapt to the evolving needs of a dynamic workforce.
Advanced Concepts 2.0 is a research- and design-driven exploration of emerging workplace paradigms developed for Teknion following a competitive design process, in which our team was selected to advance three future workplace concepts. Positioned between speculation and application, the project investigates how work environments can evolve to support flexibility, wellbeing, and new modes of collaboration.
Conceived to respond to shifting work patterns, heightened wellness expectations, and increasing technological integration, the initiative introduces three concepts – PetPod, RoamStation, and the Nimbus Adaptive Architectural System. Each explores new approaches to flexibility, user agency, and environmental performance, translating research into full-scale spatial propositions that reimagine how workplaces can function, adapt, and support the people who use them.
PetPod – a compact, integrated solution supporting pets and their owners in the contemporary workplace.
Increasingly, companies are embracing pet-friendly policies, recognizing the mental health benefits and positive culture that come with pets in the workplace. PetPod is a space-efficient solution that creates dedicated spaces for pets close to their owners while minimizing disruption to others. Its compact footprint slides neatly under most desks, featuring a quiet, upholstered cubby with a removable dog bed, integrated storage for essentials, and a cushioned top that doubles as additional seating.
A sound-absorptive lining ensures a calm environment for pets, while a built-in HEPA filtration system enhances localized air quality for everyone. PetPod supports both the emotional and physical needs of pets and their owners, promoting well-being, inclusion, and a calm, harmonious workspace for all.
