Roof Folding House

MDA Architecture as Architects

Roof Folding House locates in a green campus including functional zones, villas, recreation centers, tennis courts, canteen blocks, swimming pools, landscaped gardens. It is designed based on two main parts, the fixed part is the main building block, and the light construction part is the patio. The folding tile roof links these two parts to reduce the building height, block the sun to the east, and direct the spaces to the garden and swimming pool.  The entire exterior is covered with laterite combined with the traditional tile roof to make the building look more aesthetically firmly. This place is both a weekend getaway place for the owner and serves common facilities for the surrounding residential area.

- The empty ground floor space is arranged with a living room and a kitchen. These spaces are open to the front porch, swimming pool and garden. The ground floor and 2nd floor are connected by stairs inside and outside to create private aisles when needed. Large veranda and balcony could be arranged with wood collapsed to relax. On the 2nd floor, there is a dining table on the balcony and bedrooms. The attic floor and bedrooms are separated by space between the house. The stairs are arranged to change according to floors to move and change the sense of experiencing the gaps.
