The hotel is located on an existing parking building of great dimensions, which at the same time covers the railway that links the airport to Milan’s city center. The hotel hosts 436 rooms, a conference center and a spa both of them accessible directly from the airport thanks to an existing bridge.

Roselli Architetti Associati formerly known as King&Roselli Architetti Associati, was looking to seamless link with a particular shell the functional volumes of the buildings distributed along the whole complex. After much research and several trials with several materials such as titanium zinc sheeting, Corian, sprayed polyurethane damp-proof membranes, and waterproof concrete-resin based finishes, it was clear that the best option were the pultruded fiberglass panels. 

The building shell is curved around a subframe of pultruded structural profiles and steel arches, wrapping the entire length of each module of the hotel with a smooth, continuous skin. 

The hotel has seven courtyards, the curved façade side faces the airport, and the guest rooms overlook the inner courtyards. The roof is treated as a façade to be seen from the airport, with the openings towards the terraces, light-wells or interior courts. The western face of the hotel is open in order to emphasize the horizontality of the volume with shallow water pools set in the lower level at the ends of the building.

On the west façade an irregular sequence of solids and voids formed by the blocks of guest rooms and courtyards can be appreciated. Each solid is further articulated by a series of thick sculptural PVC blackout curtains which give both depth and dynamism to the overall elevation. The folded shell alternates with the glass transparency of the enclosed volumes in which the reflective curtains mirror the daylinght to generate a building that seems to be constantly changing.
