From a small Hansel and Gretel home, a mighty Tree House rises in Copper, Wood, Glass, and Kalwall, Four Floors high into the Forest. The small cottage home on the front was kept with only a tiny peek of the massive addition. ( see upper left corner ) The family needed more space, especially as one is a well-known author with a much-needed studio.  Literally, in the DC area, the home abuts the park.  The design was in itself a large gathering of tree forms using Kalwall, copper, and large glass windows.  Every floor is akin to being in a tree house.  The vertical elements match the rhythm of the mighty trees. Further use of the Kalwall gave luminosity with privacy. The stair tower was a bookcase of stairs, looking like a large book image, as well made the towering trees a part of its metaphorical image.
