The design replaces the earlier War Memorial outdoor swimming pool (1957) with a new 50-metre outdoor pool, separate water polo pool and a facilities building. The new building provides pool-side change facilities, pool plant, pool store and exercise facilities with a building and roofline that melds into the existing campus. The exercise facilities in the pool-side building include a cardio room and an extensive reworking of the school’s Healy Gym for weights work. The design includes a generous pool concourse, re-siting of the St Josephs War Memorial and a new approach to Brother Emilian Hall.
