Double Bay III House

Breaking free of a typical development pattern, this family home is situated towards the rear of the site, allowing the ground floor living spaces to open onto the expansive front lawn and connect to the park beyond. The dense trees create a canopy of privacy and shade within which the organic, sweeping forms of the upper level of the house appear to float. The dappled light through these trees has been playfully interpreted and exaggerated within the rooms through the introduction of custom-perforated, operable screens. Throughout the interior design the curved forms continue with the softening of the stairs, walls, and cabinetry in a palette of natural materials and muted tones.
