H2R DESIGN REVEALS THE DETAILS BEHIND THE STYLISH STEAKHOUSE ‘STEAK ON ME’

When H2R Design was tasked with the design of Steak on Me, a stylish steakhouse located in Wasl 51, the challenge was clear: to strike the perfect balance between refinement and comfort. The result is a semi-high-end atmosphere that elevates the dining experience without losing the welcoming vibe that makes it accessible to all.

Drawing inspiration from the elemental forces of smoke and fire, the design seamlessly blends luxurious materials with modern aesthetics. Marble, metal, and wood form the core elements, each chosen for their ability to convey a sense of timelessness and quality. These are complemented by contemporary touches of acrylic and polycarbonate, adding a sleek edge to the space.

The design is deeply intertwined with the culinary essence of the restaurant. Every detail pays homage to the art of steak preparation, with a colour palette reminiscent of the rich marbling of premium cuts of meat. Shades of red, pink, and maroon are thoughtfully integrated to evoke the warmth and vibrancy of a perfectly seared steak, while wood tones lend a natural, organic feel to the environment.

Stainless steel accents introduce a modern, sophisticated flair, while coral highlights add a pop of vibrancy that enlivens the space. This careful balance of colours and materials not only enhances the steakhouse theme but also draws inspiration from the urban and street influences of Toky with bold shapes and lighting infusing the design with a unique, cosmopolitan character.

One of the primary challenges in the design process was the integration of new elements into the existing kitchen layout. This required significant modifications to the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to accommodate the innovative design while ensuring that the kitchen operated smoothly even during peak hours. Separately, advanced ventilation systems were also integrated to manage air quality, providing a comfortable dining experience.

The restaurant's location on a corner lot presented both opportunities and challenges too. While the unique spatial advantages allowed for a distinctive layout, it also demanded creative solutions to optimie the use of space and maintain a cohesive design throughout.

The lighting design was tailored to the unique shape of the restaurant, ensuring that both natural and artificial light sources worked in harmony to highlight key features and maintain a welcoming atmosphere From the soft, warm glow that highlights the rich wood tones to the strategic placement of accent lighting that brings out the vibrancy of the coral and metal elements, every detail was meticulously planned to ensure a sophisticated yet dynamic ambiance.

The result is a restaurant that seamlessly blends form and function, offering guests an inviting and memorable environment, a space where the art of steak preparation is celebrated and where every detail has been thoughtfully considered to provide an exceptional culinary journey.
