This house is located in the woods, on the hills that surround Florence. The client is an artist, painter and collector. He came in our studio asking us to transform his house, like a worm that becomes a butterfly. The main goal was to give the house a new personality, improving the relation between living space and panorama.
A research about the relation between exterior and interior spaces, bringing inside the nature and outside dynamic elements: a project that finds its identity in this relation.
The rooms are organized in a radial pattern, all the windows face the south towards the panorama. The false ceiling is like a folded paper that opens like a fan creating a space warped.
With this project the building was completely renovated, we kept and upgraded the original layout and all the elevations and exterior parts were redesigned.
The house is located on a new base made of grey stone, chromatically different from the house, it functions as a link between the house and the nature, creating exterior spaces that allow to admire the panorama.
The base connects the entrance door, the living terrace, covered by the new pergola, the garden and the outside kitchen where you can have lunch.
The openings of the main facades are standardized and converted into window doors, in this way all the rooms that face that direction are connected with the outside.
The main entrance is emphasized with a splayed corten frame.
The pergola is made of corten and it is located in the south, it has directional elements so it is possible to adjust the intensity of the natural light.
Corten is the material used to draw all the details of the façade, the entrance and the functional elements.
A panoramic terrace was made thanks to the changing of one of the roofing pitch, it gives a new personality to the artist’s studio, reserved and inspirational.
