The design was centered on images of the ocean waves while keeping in mind the client's desire for a Japanese feel.
On the right and left walls, photographs of the ocean were converted into pointillistic graphics, which were then covered with polycarbonate transparent corrugated sheets in undulating shapes. These were intended to create an abstract and blurred effect on the realistic image of the ocean. For retaining something from the brand's history in a developed way, The ocean wave pattern used in the original restaurant was hung as a steel lattice, and its shadow was used as the wall finish.
Or the storefront has a display stand for product samples, which is a three-dimensional representation of the same ocean wave pattern. The main seating area was designed to mix the Japanese touch and blue of the ocean, with indigo-dyed textiles, hung like vertical lattices around the seats, aiming to create a private room with a sense of softness that is different from the conventional private rooms by rigid walls. An undulating wall with a transparent corrugated sheet is built on the facade to distort the view to the inside as if in the water while maintaining privacy from the public passageway.
The brand, Sushi Hokkaido Sachi is a popular sushi chain that is already well known by the locals, with many large, thriving restaurants in Ho Chi Minh City. And 07BEACH, a small studio that wanted to create something unique and challenging aimed to take advantage of each other's strengths. And thanks to the brand's flexible attitude, we believe we have created a space where the brand's extensive know-how in large restaurant operations and our uniqueness combined well together.
