SV Apartment is a luxury residence spanning half a floor at One Thousand Museum in Miami — the iconic residential tower by Zaha Hadid Architects overlooking Museum Park and Biscayne Bay. Designed by Nar Design Studio as a full turnkey interior renovation, the 4,600-square-foot condominium was conceived for a client whose passion for music and contemporary art called for something far more expressive than a conventional high rise interior. The project explores the intersection of organic architecture, advanced fabrication, and futuristic design, creating an immersive living environment where sculptural forms and technology merge into a coherent spatial experience shaped by the building’s extraordinary architectural language.
Nar Design Studio managed the project from concept through completion — encompassing interior architecture, space planning, lighting design, custom millwork, construction coordination, and furnishing procurement. The interior concept unfolds through a dynamic interplay of solids and voids, where curved surfaces, custom architectural elements, and innovative lighting systems shape a fluid spatial narrative. The result is a contemporary tropical oasis infused with a refined monochromatic palette and high tech detailing — an atmosphere that feels both futuristic and deeply calming within one of Miami’s most architecturally significant towers.
At the heart of the Great Room lies a sculptural bar that serves as both focal point and architectural statement. Designed to embrace the structural column and integrate with the surrounding architecture, the bar’s organic geometry creates a continuous flow through the living space. The design incorporates parametric modeling and thermoformed fabrication techniques to achieve its complex curvature. Constructed with KRION® solid surface by Porcelanosa Group, the piece combines sculptural elegance with high performance material properties. Divided into four sections, custom fabricated and assembled on site, the installation reflects the coordination between advanced fabrication and precise craftsmanship that runs through the residence.
The ceiling and lighting design were conceived as integral architectural elements, not decorative additions. A stretched membrane ceiling system, built in two layers, was developed to accommodate complex geometries while maintaining durability and recyclability. The main ceiling plane features a matte white membrane with focal lighting distribution, while a recessed section in high gloss grey integrates indirect LED cove lighting. The layered system introduces depth, contrast, and controlled reflections that enhance the spatial composition while supporting the wellness driven lighting strategy that runs throughout the residence.
Lighting plays a central role in supporting circadian rhythms and daily wellbeing, aligning with the studio’s broader research into wellness centered interior environments. Adjustable lighting conditions allow the residence to transition naturally throughout the day, from vibrant daylight clarity to calm evening illumination, creating a balanced living environment that responds to the occupant rather than imposing a fixed atmosphere. In a high rise, where daily life can easily be reduced to surface refinement, this attention to environmental quality marks a more considered approach to the way people actually live.
The attention to detail extends to every corner, including a console, designed specifically for the space, that serves as both sculptural divider and functional architectural element. Positioned between the living and dining areas, it reinforces spatial continuity while maintaining visual openness. Built through a combination of 3D printing and precision laser cut fabrication, each horizontal shelf introduces its own curvature, reinforcing the project’s language of organic movement while supporting the curved modular sofa behind it. The living room wall doubles as a projection surface at full scale, transforming the space into an immersive multimedia environment. The media unit was customized to house an integrated laser projector, its internal geometry carved precisely to align with the projection path. Throughout the residence, a curated selection of furniture, art deco bronze sculptures, and crystal objects carries the project’s aesthetic narrative forward, blending tropical references with a refined monochromatic palette and a futuristic design language that responds directly to Zaha Hadid’s architectural vision for the building.
From the sculptural bar to the layered lighting systems and custom architectural elements, SV Apartment moves beyond conventional high rise finishes into genuinely architectural territory, where advanced fabrication, wellness driven strategy, and spatial authorship combine into a residential environment unlike anything else in the building. It is one register within a broader body of work: where the studio’s PS Apartment at Five Park Miami Beach takes a warmer, more tropical approach to condominium living, and SK Residence in Surfside explores a quieter, wellness driven interpretation of waterfront design, SV Apartment answers the sculptural intensity of Zaha Hadid’s architecture with a residence built from the same language of curves, technology, and material precision.
That sculptural ambition — the parametric bar, the layered ceiling systems, the wellness driven lighting throughout — has been matched by recognition on an international scale, including honors from the SBID International Design Awards, the German Design Awards, the IDA Design Awards, the Iconic Awards, the Paris Design Awards, and Florida Design’s Seaglass Awards. The project also extends Nar Design Studio’s broader research into wellness centered design, presented at the 2025 Venice Architecture Biennale as part of the exhibition “Holistic Interiors: The Architecture of Wellness and Regeneration” — the same inquiry into light, material, and spatial comfort that runs through SV Apartment’s circadian lighting and organic forms, given here one of its clearest architectural expressions within One Thousand Museum.
