This was for the travelling showcase Singapore: Inside Out, a celebration of contemporary Singaporean creative practitioners across disciplines including architecture, design, fashion, film, food, music, and the literary, performing and visual arts.

Held as part of the SG50 celebrations in 2015 for Singapore's Golden Jubilee, the showcase travelled to Beijing, London, New York before concluding in Singapore at the end of the year. Zarch Collaboratives Architectural Studio was the Master Planner for this showcase.

Occupying a 3.6m by 3.6m exhibition space, Taman Singapura was a four-way collaboration with Fashion Designer Elyn Wong of Stolen, Choreographer Lee Mun Wai of T.H.E. Dancers, and the audio-visual collective Syndicate - merging dance, architecture, music, and fashion into a sensorial, moving experience.

Designed to be simultaneously "in and out", Taman Singapura reimagines Singapore as more than a tropical Garden City. Juxtaposing steel reinforcement bars - common at construction sites - with tensile, translucent fabric, forests transformed into gardens, gardens into a city, and within the city, recreates gardens and forests. Within this interior evokes an exterior - a poetic expression of a City in a Garden.

The space invites quiet contemplation. Visitors step into a turfed, open-to-sky enclosure, where the fabric-wrapped structure mutes the bustle outside, providing a rare moment of stillness. A freshly-felled tree trunk anchors one corner, offering a place to sit and reflect on its past life.

Elyn Wong's piece, Beings of a Garment, weaves through the same translucent fabric. During live performances, these fabric pieces became the dancers' outfit, taking on their forms and movements - merging fashion, body, and space into a single, fluid expression.
