Tank 4 is a dedicated gallery space in the Tanks Arts Centre. The standalone Curator's Office is located within the grid of blackened timber posts and suspended lighting, at the intersection of two main public access points. The design of the structure was informed by the heritage requirements of the site and was intended to be self-standing and independent from the other existing tanks.

The existing fabric and structure of the tanks influenced the design and palette of materials used for the Curator's Office. The base shell of the office is composed of a simple, curvy linear form of dark stained plywood, which provides structural robustness through its self-bracing form and a discreet presence. This minimalist design creates a sense of minimalism and allows the Office to blend into the existing surroundings while maintaining its own identity.

The exterior of the Curator's Office at Tank 4 Gallery features a plywood skin that has been strategically "cut open" to reveal an inner office space. The use of a white aluminum glazing system in contrast to the dark timber posts serves to separate the interior from the surrounding public space while still allowing natural light to filter in.

The transparency of the office allows for a balance of visibility and privacy, ensuring that neither the occupants within the office nor the gallery visitors outside feel threatened or observed in an inappropriate manner. The design of the office space maintains a sense of separateness while still allowing for a sense of casual surveillance.
