The Tashbar School combines 36,000 sq.ft of private classroom facilities and flexible common spaces. A pod system is utilized to organize the classrooms, separating grades K to 8 into three separate groups, and allowing for the phasing of the project to coincide with the student’s progress. Each pod is oriented towards a specific open space, uniquely designed for the play activities of the occupants’ age group. The vertical circulation system connects the classroom pods to a large span structure that has public presence towards the street. This building contains the gym, cafeteria and multipurpose space and is designed with a separate entrance and security system allowing for public use when the school is closed.
