This project is located in Almaty, in the Nauryzbay District, within the residential complex “Tau Samal.” The total area of the house is 400 sq.m. The project began as a reconstruction: a single-story house was expanded with a second level and completely reimagined from within. However, the main focus was not the increase in size, but the creation of a new spatial logic — precise, flexible, and responsive to the real rhythm of the family’s life.
The house was designed for a couple with three children of different ages and their pets. Designers Tansholpan Kenessova and Indira Aidarbekova of the design studio NESSO INTERIORS were tasked with creating an environment where individual scenarios do not conflict, but coexist — forming a comfortable and vibrant architecture of everyday life. As designer Tansholpan Kenessova says: “In this project, it was essential for us not to rely on a single specific style or visual reference. What mattered more was to carefully listen to the family — their lifestyle, habits, interests, and everyday scenarios. These became the main guideline for our work. We aimed to create a space that does not feel static or ‘staged,’ but lives together with its inhabitants. The interior is flexible and adapts to different rhythms — from quiet family evenings to the active, creative lives of the children.”
