The Old Sawmill District Technology Campus is designed to support the expansion of innovative businesses in Missoula. Over 40,000 square feet of office space within the project is designed for a technology company and more than 400 of their employees. In addition, retail spaces with infrastructure to support a diverse range of small businesses are located on the ground floor. Underground is a 20,000 square foot parking garage for over 50 bicycles and 50 vehicles.
The project is committed to continuing the vision for the Old Sawmill District through design that acknowledges Missoula history, engages the community, and creates a thriving place for people to live, work and play. The architecture is inspired by the industrial roots of the Old Sawmill District and the future of technology, innovation, and learning. Brick and steel were chosen as the primary exterior materials for their timeless nature and contextual quality. All sides of the buildings are comprised of oversized windows to connect people within them to the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape. On the roof of the western building is a 2,500 square foot deck for relaxing, entertaining, connecting with peers and enjoying the expansive mountain views from 44 feet above ground.
Several sustainable features are included in the project, such as carbon reduced concrete, rooftop solar, passive solar, wood structure, advanced lighting controls, electric car charging and recycled building materials.
