CONCEPT

Under the early morning sun, the dewdrops glisten, gently sliding on the lotus petal, gracefully like an enchanting dance of light. Serenity Bloom opens a space where tranquility and brilliance converge, just as the dewdrop silently celebrates the beauty of the sunlight.

LAYOUT

The structure takes the form of a giant, outspread lotus leaf, designed not only to catch the pure essence of the morning dew but also to cradle the unblemished soul of Nghe An’s identity. Here, the image of the river transcends mere metaphor; the natural flow of the Lam River is transformed into the project’s primary circulation system. This "current" guides visitors on an experiential journey through various functional nodes, recreating the vibrant riverside life that has long nurtured the Ví Giặm folk songs and the rich cultural tapestry of the entire region.

DESIGN SOLUTIONS

01 - Thermal Insulation & Climate Adaptation

Located in a climatic transition zone, Nghe An experiences a harsh blend of Northern cold and Southern heat. The Foehn wind is the region’s most punishing weather characteristic—dry, scorching, and prevailing from May to August. Furthermore, as the building's facade faces Northwest, the central courtyard endures intense afternoon sun, increasing thermal radiation. To mitigate this, we implemented a "Double Skin" solution. This creates a natural air buffer that significantly reduces heat absorption, improves energy efficiency, and ensures a temperate, soothing atmosphere for the interior.

02 - Light Installation & Reflective Materials

To recreate the "dance of light on dewdrops," the project focuses on the interaction between natural light and reflective surfaces. As sunlight passes through perforated metal panels and transparent glass, it creates soft, scattered rays that ripple across polished metallic finishes. These light patterns shift continuously with the sun’s trajectory, blurring the boundaries between the interior and the natural world outside.

03 - Honoring Local Identity through Vernacular Materials

The dialogue between rustic, handcrafted wattle-and-daub (nan) partitions and modern materials like glass and metal creates a unique design language. This contrast not only celebrates local craftsmanship but also infuses the project with a distinctive contemporary soul.

Serenity Bloom is born from the humble simplicity of life on the river. It is a space designed not just to be seen, but to be felt—a place where a lingering purity weaves together gentleness and brilliance, evoking a profound sense of peace in every moment.
