Torf

The bog located in the immediate vicinity prompted a construction similar to stacked blocks of dried turf. Essentially, each building is conceptually 4 or 8 pieces of over dimensional stacked turf blocks.

Arrangement of buildings: Three buildings are located on the site in accordance with the loose building arrangement of the surrounding residential environment. The direction (longitudinal facades to the south and north) of the structure corresponds to that of the surrounding buildings.

Energetic aspects: The orientation of the buildings further promoted the ideal passive solar input at the south side and west sides. South and west facades were accordingly opened by generous glass areas, the north and east facades have only the necessary openings.

Elevated ground floor: For better exposure of the basement, the floor is raised to + 99 cm compared to adjacent levels. This is only 2 m below basement level, which makes a short ramp to the parking garage possible.

Secondary Buildings: Bicycles, garbage and garden equipment will be housed in secondary structures, which correspond to surface, design and location of the main buildings.
