The concept for the project was born quite intuitively while looking for an unconventional and yet lower-budget approach in arranging the space of the ground floor of a private house. There were three tasks: furniture should be minimal and simplistic; the budget should be kept relatively modest and the result should be unconventional. This resulted in the creation of a neutral scenography(a light-gray box) in which the various actors- the functional areas of the house, “float“ in space, each “dressed up” in a specific color.

The polished concrete floor, the visible concrete slab and the light-grey rendering of the brick walls form the neutral environment for the colorful play of the custom-made furniture zones. Using color was the easiest and simplest way to distinguish the functions of the open-plan house. Corresponding to clients’ personal preferences a color palette was created and it was decided together how to distribute the colors among the functions. Thus each color occupied a particular function and, instead of applying one- or two-color combinations everywhere in the house, this vibrant approach was chosen, resulting in more unconventional, playfuland satisfying result.

The custom made furniture items appear as if levitating not touching the floor where possible.

The lighting was solved also quite honestly and expressively –metal profiles of LED lighting with different length and size mark the running lines of the space and pass through each functional zone longitudinally. The presence of thin black lines further defines the directions in the space as similar profiles are used for the metal structure of the staircase.

Additional variety and connection between the zones is provided by the free-standing furniture and the tailor-made accessories - the woven carpet in the living area, the modular 3D wall panel (made of blue MDF board and thin copper sheets), the round orange object, all designed by the architect; as well as the careful selection of the other accessories –chairs, sofa, side tables, vases, bowls and all small items.

Thus, the result is a place where the sensation of spaciousness and playfulness coexist without any conflict.
