Tower House

Christoph Hesse Architects as Architects

The conversion and further construction of existing buildings over generations is an important topic in rural areas. A contemporary interpretation of this theme is the Tower House in the North Hessian Bromskirchen. A young family, who found the apartment in his parents‘ house too small, decided in favor of new a new building that fulfilled both the desire for independence and the wish for solidarity with the older generation: a solitaire that stood out distinctly from the 1960s parents‘ home, but connected via a bridge.

In order to minimize the consumption of land, the extension was realized on a minimal footprint (about 20 sqm) by stacking four rooms on top of each other, which are alternately introverted and extroverted. The bedroom is located in the basement, on the ground floor you can find the kitchen, in the mezzanine the reading room and in the attic the bathroom with roof terrace and a spectacular view towards the landscape.

Material Used :
1. Wood - Structure
2. Thermo Bricks - Basement
3. Plaster – Façade Cladding
