U2 Geuzenveld in Amsterdam is one of the pilot projects of the urban renewal of the Western suburbs. The glass building is a hommage to the green suburb, in which contact with nature has always been very important. At the same time the glass refers to our nowadays shop-window culture. The building is reflecting and seducing and is an example of urban densification and revival in the suburbs.

The senior apartments are as spacious as possible. The ones on the lower levels, have living spaces and (indoor) veranda's overlooking the street. With good weather the tumbling windows of the veranda's can be completely opened. Apartments on the higher levels are turned and have their living space overlooking the harbours of Amsterdam.

The psychiatric housing facility is designed as a small village in which corridors look like small Mediterranean streets with natural light falling from above. Those streets guide inhabitants along several functions which are spread over the building. From a lifted super size veranda inhabitants look at the lively square with shops and bus stops. The psychiatric facility is a world in itself.
