Ultramarinos Octavio

Ultramarinos Octavio

Sierra de la Higuera Studio as Designers

We would like to present you the next project we did with Paloma Barrientos: ULTRAMARINOS OCTAVIO. A store full of Gourmet products: sausages, cheeses, wines, pickles... next to a bar and a restaurant.

https://sierradelahiguera.com/proyectos/ultramarinos-octavio-11/
Ultramarinos Octavio, a family business for years, has space in the San Antón Market as well as in the Barceló Market. It started as a delicatessen and now is a great grocery store with a great variety of Gourmet products.

The next step is to set up a grocery store at street level outside any market. In which, apart from being a delicatessen and cheese shop, it would include a great variety of Gourmet products, a wine bar and a small restaurant to taste the products.

At the time of designing the space, we took inspiration from traditional grocery stores, giving it a more avant-garde feel. The premises are located in Cea Bermudez Street. It is divided into two spaces: one for the sale of products and another for tasting. The protagonist has to be the product so we chose to make a container as neutral and pure as possible respecting the structure, using sustainable coating materials such as terracotta, and glazed tiles in 3 colors: blue for salted fish; red for deli and white for the entire Gourmet product.
