Ny Våler Church, Norway

The new Våler Church is inspired by traditional nordic Stave churches. The building is constructed of timber ribs and panels set on a stone plinth. The roof is clad with shingles and the bell tower of vertical timber boarding and shingles. Fretted copper cladding on the front of the bell tower allows light to filter down into the entrance vestibule. The ancillary wing is clad with half cut timber logs to relate to its serpentine form and its setting adjacent to the woodland.
