SUMMARY:
The house renovation was designed for a vacation home, so the concept of the veranda house was to comfortably accommodate as many guests as possible, while also offering an inviting leisure space.
 Organized across three levels, the house features 7 bedrooms, including 4 suites, a spacious living room, a swimming pool, and a barbecue area with a sea view.

BRIEFING:
The briefing called for a versatile project that could serve both for sale and for rental. The idea was to create a neutral base while establishing a pleasant and welcoming atmosphere.

CHALLENGES:
Our biggest challenge was integrating the spaces: being an older house, it had a very compartmentalized layout. Furthermore, since it sits on a hillside, the house is spread across three levels, which made the connection between areas even more difficult.

SOLUTIONS:
We divided the layout by floors: the ground floor includes parking spaces and the service area; the first floor houses the private area – 7 bedrooms, 4 of which are suites – and a pantry; and the second floor is the social area, with a living room integrated with the dining area and kitchen, a barbecue area, and a swimming pool.
The old access staircase was located in the middle of the garage, taking up a parking spot and splitting the living room in two. To solve this, we created a new access staircase to the first floor along the side of the house and relocated the staircase between the first and second floors. This allowed us to enlarge the living room.
On the bedroom floor, we reorganized the flow by creating a hall leading to the private area, marked by blue mosaic tiles that define the circulation. The bedrooms gained charm with a continuous wooden headboard that allows the beds to be joined or separated. The bathrooms follow the same mosaic tile pattern as the hall.

The social area includes a game table, a large TV lounge, a dining area, and an open-concept kitchen. Two large windows were added to the living room, offering a view of the Atlantic Forest-covered mountain. The old wooden ceiling was painted white to brighten the space, while the beams were kept in their original color to add character.
The kitchen is fully equipped to host guests. The central island serves both as a cooking station and for quick meals. The slatted wood cabinetry maintains the house’s light-toned mood without losing charm.
Right next to it is a covered terrace with a barbecue area and a sea view. The pool, located in front of the terrace, was designed with a raised edge to offer greater safety for children and pets, as well as serving as a place to sunbathe and sit.
Finally, to make the house more functional, a dumbwaiter was installed to serve all three floors: it helps carry groceries to the kitchen, sends dirty laundry down to the laundry room, and brings up luggage.
