The ‘Bergwijkpark’ in Diemen, The Netherlands is a transition area that slowly changes from a mono-functional office area to a multifunctional hotspot. With students, national and international companies already found in the area, the in 2017 opened VIA hotel attracted tourists to the area. It was considered the first step into creating a VIA Village. The recently opened VIA Work, is the newest addition to the VIA Village.
VIA Work is the new co-working space belonging to the VIA Community and offers flexible work spaces, meeting rooms, informal meeting areas and a reception and bar on the ground floor. VIA Work is the place where start-ups and smaller existing companies and professionals come together in a dynamic and unique environment.
APTO Architects was responsible for both concept and design, in which only the two old cores of the building remain. Everything else has been renewed, with new installations and data cables. A building designed as a small village, in which various streets come together into a small central square. The hallways connected to the square are used as (informal) meeting areas with tables and stools to work on. ‘Streets’ in which you can find spaces and desks for rent, like small ‘houses’, designed with modular walls for flexibility in size and shape. Walking through the streets, one might come across other inspiring professionals. The two top floors contain suites, so that next to working, you can also stay the night. Join the VIA VIA club and enjoy all the privileges while you are still connected to the VIA Community.
Together with VIA Hotel, VIA Work not only offers a place to work or organise events, but also for an extended stay. This makes the VIA Village a ‘full-service business village’. A place where you can find all necessary functions, so that you don’t have to leave the village anymore. Where people know each other and where companies and millennials are encouraged to mingle. A melting pot of new ideas.
Next to the VIA Hotel and VIA Work, the adjacently located VIA42 is under construction. VIA42 is the full service office location to complete the VIA Village. APTO is responsible for both concept and design of the building.
