Sand House is a private residence in Dubai conceived as a refined expression of bio-architecture, where architecture, landscape and materiality are brought together to create a calm and deeply sensory living environment.
Designed by ARK Architects, the project responds to its setting through fluid geometries, soft continuous lines and a strong connection between interior and exterior spaces. Large glazed openings dissolve conventional boundaries, allowing natural light to move throughout the house while framing views of water, vegetation and sky.
Materiality plays a central role in the character of the residence. Natural stone, wood and textured surfaces are carefully composed to introduce warmth, depth and a timeless quality. Light is treated as an architectural material in itself, filtered and modulated to create changing patterns of shadow, rhythm and atmosphere throughout the day.
Water is equally important to the spatial experience. Pools, reflective surfaces and landscaped courtyards reinforce a sense of continuity and calm, while contributing to the microclimate of the house. Vegetation is integrated as an essential part of the architecture, enhancing privacy, comfort and wellbeing rather than serving as a purely decorative element.
The residence is organised around the lifestyle of its inhabitants, with each space designed to support comfort, privacy and a sense of retreat. Interior and exterior areas flow naturally into one another, creating a living experience that remains constantly connected to nature despite the urban and desert context of Dubai.
Sand House reflects ARK Architects’ approach to contemporary residential architecture: creating homes that are not only visually distinctive, but emotionally resonant, environmentally responsive and designed to endure over time.
