Young newlywed couple wanted a place that resembled a house, with plenty of vegetation so they could receive friends and family, in addition to building a family.
What were the owner's requests and expectations for the project and how were they met?
Clients wanted comfortable and integrated environments, with lots of greenery so they could receive friends and raise their families, as well as contemplative places so they could enjoy the incredible views. All of this was taken care of.
Is it construction, renovation or interior design renovation? If it was a renovation, what was the internal distribution of the property like afterwards
Total renovation, on the ground floor the layout was changed and all electrical/hydraulic infrastructure and lighting changed. On the first floor there was a total renovation, always thinking about contemplating the garden and refuge that the clients dreamed of.
Was it necessary to change electrical, hydraulic material, etc.? Specify the details and reasons.
All of this was changed, in addition to all the coverings.
What is the inspiration and conception of the project?
Rustic and neutral materials, which incorporate vegetation and create harmonious and integrated environments
Is there a starting point that you consider to be the key to the project?
The view from the apartment, and how to link the other spaces so that they become a complement to it.
Did you have any difficulties? What were the solutions found?
The main difficulties were:
- Swimming pool: How to build a swimming pool on the 9th floor, for this we had help from a structural engineer who helped us technically so that it was possible to create the pool the way we wanted. To this end, we made some reinforcements, so that more than being beautiful, it is a safe environment.
- Landscaping: How to structurally enable the number of plants that we and the clients would like to incorporate into the project, for this there was an in-depth study with landscaper Bia Abreu. In the end we created several plateaus under the garden, following the layout and amount of land that each location needed.
-Electrical: as it is an old apartment there was a whole study to technically make the equipment that the client would like viable, for this we needed to change the apartment's main wiring together with Enel so that everything was used within standards and most importantly safely.
What factors were analyzed when choosing covering materials? What materials stand out? Are there any ecological or technological materials that deserve to be detailed?
How to combine durable materials with neutral tones and create the expected harmonious environment. On the ground floor we used engineered wooden flooring in most rooms, in the wet areas niwala limestone and Roman travertine, in addition to the wooden deck on the balcony contrasting with the existing wooden ceiling and the slatted panels in the room. On the upper floor we followed the same range of materials, also introducing rustic brick, Carrara marble, white gum, with the green areas with their plants and coverings as the main character.
Description of each environment (concept, materials used, etc.).
Living room/bar: With a layout focused entirely on enjoying the view, the use of neutral tones with hints of blue and orange created a relaxing environment. In terms of materiality, we highlight the stained freijó wood panels, mostly slatted, wooden flooring following the same tone, in addition to the island and wooden crosspiece.
Dining room: Following a more traditional rectangular table pattern, it is used with rounded corners and an asymmetrical chandelier, creating a more relaxed space without losing its functionality. In materiality, we follow the room’s finishes to create integration;
Master Suite + master's and lady's closet: A cozy and clean room, but which could also be used as an office and accommodate different day-to-day uses, for client closets they create integration with the bathrooms, so we created doors that enabled this integration or not when necessary. Materiality: we continued with the wooden floor, a counterpoint with natural linen fabrics and neutral tones.
Home Theater: An environment integrated with greenery, surrounded by glass creates different possibilities, a TV room for everyday life and when necessary an impeccable cinema room, where blackouts, projector and screen come down from the ceiling and next to the Santorini sofa in the atrium, they create a comfortable environment to watch a film and enjoy the moment. Materiality: Wooden flooring on the floor, panels and frames in Mado solid wood, combined with the sofa, rug and ramp armchair.
Barbecue + Balcony + Swimming Pool + Garden: It is impossible to mention just one environment without mentioning the whole. Fully integrated with each other and with the green, they create different possibilities for experiencing and contemplating the landscape, with natural materials and neutral tones with their only point of color in the light blue of the details of the sofas, armchairs and lounger, creating a casual environment focused on the rest for customers. Materiality: On the floor there is a predominance of travertine marble, aligned with the wooden deck and peanut grass, on the walls the rustic brick that blends with the building's facade, in addition to the slatted wooden panels in a very similar tone.
Is there any special object or accessory that deserves to be highlighted, for example, as something ordered abroad or as a collectible?
- ARMCHAIR GIO PONTI, an imported piece produced by Molteni and finished in blue “jeans” fabric and its golden feet make a great impact on the layout of the living room on the ground floor.
- ARMCHAIR RAMPA, a national play by Sergio Bernardes produced by the Dpot store, it was love at first sight for the client and brought a laid-back vibe to the home theater área.
