ZEFFIRINO is a contemporary restaurant project designed by SAVATLI Architects in Istanbul, shaped through a refined balance of architectural rhythm, nostalgic references, and spatial transparency. Defined by dark wooden ceiling grids, serene mint green surfaces, and carefully curated material transitions, the space creates a calm yet striking dining environment grounded in proportion, atmosphere, and seamless integration with the breathtaking Bosphorus view.
The project reinterprets the classic Italian dining experience through a highly tailored spatial language where architecture, furniture, and materiality operate as a unified composition. Rather than relying on decorative excess, the design emphasizes restraint, tactile richness, and the careful orchestration of the relationship between indoors and outdoors.
At the core of the space, a pergola-inspired wooden ceiling structure establishes a strong architectural identity, filtering sunlight to create dynamic, ever-changing shadow plays throughout the day. Mirrors and black-and-white vintage photographs, integrated into classic wood-paneled walls, strengthen the memory and belonging of the space while maximizing visual depth by reflecting the infinity of the Istanbul Bosphorus into the interior.
Materiality played a central role in shaping the atmosphere of Zeffirino. Rattan-woven Thonet-style chairs, textural wood details on the sculptural bar unit, the crisp clarity of white tablecloths, and warm-toned terrazzo flooring were carefully combined to create sensory continuity across the interior. Live climbing plants wrapping around structural columns introduce softness and fluidity within the structured geometry of the architecture, strengthening the dialogue with nature.
Spatial flow was approached as a key architectural principle throughout the project. From expansive, open-air dining areas overlooking the sea to more intimate corners around the bar, each space was designed to maintain its own identity while contributing to a cohesive architectural language. Carefully integrated wall sconces, elegant table lamps, tactile surfaces, and tonal transitions reinforce an atmosphere that feels both elevated and deeply grounded.
Moreover, the project prioritizes craftsmanship and bespoke detailing as essential components of contemporary gastronomy spaces. Every junction, material transition, and custom-designed element—such as the rattan-clad bar—was developed specifically for the spatial narrative, creating an environment shaped through precision, atmosphere, and material coherence.
