Esrawe Studio

Esrawe Studio is a cross-disciplinary design office located in Mexico City, whose aim is to develop furniture and interior design solutions for bars, restaurants, hotels, offices, houses and commercial spaces. The team is comprised of experienced designers, architects, production engineers and IT engineers, as well as a team of manufacturing specialists whose main goal is to assure that every one of the studio’s products is optimally crafted—from conceptualization to the finishing stages. The presence of the studio’s creative essence is evident throughout the entire process; a process perfected each and every day so as to offer new concepts and custom-made furniture pieces. At Esrawe Studio, design is a living process of dialogue, linking the users with their surroundings. It’s all about feeling the evolution of design, which stems from an understanding of basic physical and emotional needs of a given moment, and in a given context. Thanks to the quality of its designs —in crafted and industrial products, as well as interior design—, Esrawe Studio has been rewarded with plenty of recognition from around the globe. In 2013 the Casa del Agua project, made in collaboration with Cadena and Associates, won first place at the World Interiors News Awards in the Retail Interiors category. For the same project, the Studio also received an Iconic Award in 2013 in the Shop Design category, as well as the MxDesign Award from Casa Viva magazine, in the Shop Design category. The design of the BAN stools earned the Good Design Award, and the Field table won the Green Good Design award in 2012. In the same year, the Studio received the Best of Year award in the Institutional category for the Plaza Condesa project. The same project was also awarded the Building of the Year Award in 2011 by ArchDaily in the Hotels and Restaurants category, as well as the Best of Year Award in 2011 by Interior Design magazine in the Hospitality-Fine Dining category. In 2010, the Studio received the same prize for the Cielito Querido Café project, which was developed in collaboration with Cadena and Associates. This same project was also the winning project at the Iberoamerican Design Biennial 2010 in the Interior Design category. At the same event in 2008, the Studio won a silver medal, thanks to its Corporativo LAR project. Glocal magazine handed the Studio the Noldi Schreck Award in 2012, and the International Interior Design Association awarded the studio with a special recognition for 15 years of excellence in its work. Additionally, the Studio received an Award of Excellence in 2010 from a!Diseño magazine, and two silver Quorum awards, among others. Several pieces designed by the studio have been exhibited in art galleries, shows and fairs, such as Art Basel Miami (USA, 2013), the High Museum (Atlanta,USA, 2013), Art San Diego Contemporary Art fair (USA, 2013), Salone del Mobile (Milan, Italy, 2013), the Bensimon Gallery (Paris, France, 2011); the Mint Gallery (UK, 2011); and Europalia (Belgium, 1993). Additionally, the work has been shown at the Palacio de Iturbide, the Antiguo Colegio de San Ildefonso, the Franz Mayer Museum, the Palacio de Bellas Artes, and the Galería Mexicana de Diseño, amongst others in Mexico City. The creations of Esrawe Studio are based in the constant exploration of new processes, and a pure expression of the materials, such as glass, wood and metal. In collaboration with Nouvel Studio, Esrawe Studio produces blown glass pieces, which are currently sold at stores like Barney’s, Saks, Moss and the Walker Museum. Works from the Studio have been featured in the international press in publications such as Monocle, Wallpaper, a+a, Azure, Frame, Surface, Arquine, Elle, Abitare, InStyle, Interior Design, and Damn, amongst others. To the same extent, Héctor Esrawe has been invited to share his particular point of view in world cities like New York, Prague, Helsinki and London.
