With the support of the developer, Hometown Communities, we created a fun and affordable housing project at 900 F Street set in downtown San Diego. Colkitt&Co transformed an affordable housing project into a fun and optimistic environment using elements of color infused into the strategic areas of the interiors. These zones of color separate long double loaded corridors into colored striations of orange, green, and grey - while the yellow zones collapse space and become destinations. The elements are simple, yet purposeful - and powerful in their impact on the mood of interior experience. Lively combinations of every day materials, such as paint, vinyl composite tiles and rubber stair treads were used, giving it the accessible and friendly feel the project needed, and without compromising the soul and inspiration that a creatively thought out space provides.
