With the BVB FanWelt, a real second fan home was created next to the Dortmund stadium. The new two-storey building blends in confidently next to the stadium and creates a focussed entrance situation. The design of the upper floor swings dynamically towards the flow of visitors and forms a protective canopy for ticket sales, while the first floor faces the stadium and the extended forecourt. Its generously glazed long sides as well as the stadium-facing entrance showcase the black and yellow branded interiors. Clad in dark metal panels, the roof curves down to envelop the two levels, forming the west-facing facade toward the park.
In the design of the interiors of BVB FanWelt, maximum transparency is prioritized, consolidating all ancillary rooms to the south side. Two-story voids anchor either end, while a yellow escalator transport visitors upstairs, paralleled by a semi-spiral open steel staircase marking the midpoint of the building's southern curve.
Wood and dark steel along with exposed infrastructure imbue the space with an industrial character. Key dates, numbers, and legendary personalities celebrating Borussia Dortmund's history have been playfully integrated throughout the space.
Thanks to the restrained color scheme, the club colors have a particularly intense effect. A stylized south stand brings the legendary "yellow wall" into the FanWelt and intensifies the anticipation of the next game.
