Cubo Studio House

The Island Land, Kawelluco, Region IX

A studio. A cube shaped studio, for a painter.

In the middle of the woods, a clear-cut volumen arises, profiled, measuring the landscape from it’s edges. A 9 meter edge’s cube, that must accommodate, in it’s interior and triple highed emptyness, life and an artist office; which requires those magnitudes and attenuated light for work. This is why, the volume tends to become hermetic towards north, opening to the South’s light, an invariable light, with no lightnings. That particular orientation, give us the complete contemplation of Villarica volcano.

Interior balconies that open to emptyness, accommodate the daily acts, in a careful distance. The project emerges, in summary, from the search of a specific balance and repose condition, incially expressed in formal entries, based on aureas sections. El proyecto surge, en síntesis, desde la búsqueda de una cierta condición de equilibrio y reposo, expresada inicialmente en partidos formales basados en secciones áureas. Finally, the austerity prevails from the cubical, in counterpoint to the exuberance of the natural enviroment.
