Boston Beer

A workplace redesign that truly complements a company and its people? Cheers to that! After creating two successful Tap Rooms serving their craft brewing innovations, we partnered with The Boston Beer Company again – this time to transform their corporate office. Boston Beer asked us to help them create a more cohesive office environment that would connect and showcase their brands while fostering community and collaboration in their home base. Caption The existing 50,000 SF workplace had a public corridor that physically divided the office into two sides, with walls and storefronts – and security barriers – separating them. Our design team overcame the inconvenient layout by eliminating the barriers and opening up... More

Cecil Beaton and the Celebrity Cult

The General Staff Building of the Hermitage Museum presents the first retrospective of the 20th century iconic British photographer Cecil Beaton in Russia. The exhibition includes his most celebrated works, as well as quite rare pieces. Beaton's characters — the royal family, Hollywood stars, Russian ballerinas and military officers — embodied very different values, but were presented in the most complimentary manner.    Cecil Beaton knew how to reveal the brightest features of the person on the other side of the lens and he did it with a unique sense of harmony and style. His creative method was based on looking for and working with outstanding people. We tried to highlight this approach by means of composition and... More

Walton Arts Center Expansion and Renovation

The Walton Arts Center is the seat of arts and culture in Northwest Arkansas, drawing a broad spectrum of touring artists and performances, and hosting four resident companies. Originally built in 1992, the regional venue has seen significant attendance growth over the past two decades, and found itself straining against a lack of space and heavy, closed-off aesthetic. We were tasked with revitalizing and expanding the facility to create a welcoming, inviting environment – knitting it into the community fabric and showcasing the vibrancy within. Our first challenge was the building’s orientation. Slightly elevated, and set at a 45 degree angle to the city grid, it felt disengaged from downtown Fayetteville’s street life. Dark tinted glass an... More

Parts of a Unity

The Dresden Museum of Decorative Arts lists more than 55,000 inventory numbers, each of which can tell its own story. The exhibition draws from the museum’s entire collection resources, the “unity”, and proceeds to show “parts” of it. It focuses on references and relationships that can arise between a unity and its individual constituents. Accordingly, in the exhibition “Parts of a Unity” we see unexpected neighbourships happening. Overall, this results in new ways of seeing things and puts the spotlight on the Museum of Decorative Arts as an institution with contemporary relevance, its collection ranging far beyond Baroque pomp and circumstance. Often overlooked on the outskirts of Dresden, this exhibition in the Lipsiusbau offers the oppo... More

São Luís Sports and Arts Gymnasium

The Sao Luis Sports & Arts Gymnasium is part of an architectural planning carried out and implemented over 12 years in various school sectors, in order to better adapt it to their educational principles. The reorganization of the sports sector objectively demanded the increase in the supply of sports facilities and activities - in a project briefing that included adding no areas to the existing complex and without interrupting the daily activities of the school. Occupying the same area of the previous building, completely demolished for this project, the gym has expanded from one to four its sports courts - two as grass soccer fields in the top slab and two others revealed when retractable bleachers slides into a stack. The option... More
