Professor Gerd Jäger, head of our Berlin office, recently took the microphone. The occasion was a happy one: the foundation stone for the Kornelius Forum in Berlin's Wedding district was laid in the presence of church and local celebrities. Even more pleasing: "This new building is the first building in Germany to be constructed according to the 22·26 principle," explains Gerd Jäger.  The climate-friendly new building largely manages almost without heating, mechanical ventilation and cooling. The approx. 51,300 sqm site at Siemensdamm 59-62 forms the eastern boundary of Siemensstadt. The Wernerwerk XV, which is under monumental protection, is located on the property. Built according to designs by Hans C. Hertlein in 1924/25, the former factory for transmission systems was redesigned in several construction phases and extended by further building sections by 1942. Consisting of four five- to ten-storey cubically arranged building sections, the complex was renovated in 2009 and has since been used by numerous companies from a wide range of industries. The goals: The new administrative building of the Unionhilfswerk was to make an unpretentious but powerful contribution to the urban structure - with a particular focus on sustainability: the building was to blend into its surroundings, offer a high quality of stay, use resources sparingly and age gracefully. The implementation: The new building impresses with its simple elegance and the clear order and rhythm of the openings. The perforated façade is characterized by upright window formats, four-sided circumferential flaps and deep reveals. Growing while preserving the startup energy – toi toi toi creative studio (T3) managed this feat with poise for software company Contentful’s new workplace in Berlin. As one of the most valued German software companies, Contentful has achieved accelerated growth propelling the need for T3 to translate its brand into a large-scale work environment. noa* was commissioned by IDM Alto Adige to develop the concept for a new trade fair stand to represent the soul of the South Tyrolean region for the "Berlin Travel Festival".    The pavilion aims to convey the idea of authenticity, quality, nature, sustainability, tradition and innovation: essential points for today's travelers and for modern tourism.   A modular pavilion, quick to assemble and dissemble, in order to easily change location, that carries its stories everywhere and allows guests to get a taste of what South Tyrol is like. The Siemensstadt residential district in Berlin, builtbetween 1929 and 1931 on a 19 hectare area forSiemens workers, was declared a “Unesco World HeritageSite” in 2008.
