In the quiet streets surrounding London’s Alexandra Palace, Zminkowska De Boise Architects has transformed a modest Edwardian mid-terrace through a carefully considered 16 sqm rear extension and wider reworking of the family home. Designed around the daily lives of Claire and Andrew and their two young sons, the project uses colour, exposed structure, natural materials and improved visual connections to turn a previously cramped and disconnected ground floor into a generous, light-filled sequence of spaces. Planned for a couple of young doctors, Tangerine House is a 220 m2 residence lodged in an elongated and narrow plot, surrounded by neighbors, in the Alto da Lapa neighborhood in São Paulo, Brazil. The aim was to design ample and permeable integrated spaces, offering a contemporary approach to urban living.  Firstly, the columns were moved to the lateral limits of the plot, allowing for a free open plan throughout its length. Casa Velia’s design comes from the requirement of having a built footprint no bigger than 60 sqm. Located on the former coal mining site of Les Viviers, it is surrounded by a vast 10.5-hectare park—a setting that fosters healing and well-being. The main task and challenge was to design a modern building on a compact site and integrate it harmoniously into the urban fabric of the historic center of Grodno, while preserving the existing tree located within the site boundaries. Oasis Valley Institute is an exemplary architectural project rooted in sustainability and minimal environmental impact.
