The Cultural Center in Yerevan is located at the heart of a sports complex for Paralympic athletes a commission that placed accessibility at the very center of the architectural problem, not at its margins. Yerevan is a city caught between classical grandeur and modernist ambition. The cultural center had to belong to both worlds and serve athletes who depend absolutely on the quality of its spatial organization. Designed by the architecture firm Königsberger Vannucchi, the Sesc Avenida Paulista unit, opened in 2018, stands out as an extension of the avenue itself, establishing itself as a free territory to be appropriated by the general public. Among its structural characteristics, the concept unfolds in the large access points, the various social interaction areas – with internal squares and a rooftop terrace – and even in the choice of materials, such as the use of non-reflective glass. The South façade, located along Avenue Louis Bréguet — a major axis characterized by heavy traffic — strongly asserts the building’s presence. Ruault It follows the natural curvature of the site and expresses the project’s principal volumes, notably the stage and stage tower of the main hall, as well as the large rehearsal and dance studios. Ruault In contrast, the North façade, facing the Place des Arts, the Stadium, and the town center, adopts a softer and more fluid architectural language. ‘Shelter on the ruins’ by ‘WORS architects’ is a conceptual project of museum the ‘Nossa-Senhora-da-Luz’ Fortress. It is located in Peniche, Portugal among powerful natural landscapes. Built in the XVII century, the fortress was an important strategic point along the coastal defense system of the peninsula. Desert Accommodation is a conceptual project for a contemporary guesthouse and cultural center located on the edge of the Saudi desert. Conceived as a minimalist oasis, the project explores the relationship between architecture, landscape, and climate, responding to the vast scale, silence, and extreme environmental conditions of the desert. The architectural concept is based on a clear functional structure and an immersive spatial experience that emphasizes monumentality and restraint. GO-GO MUSICGo-Go was born in the liberatory atmosphere of 1968, within Washington D.C.’s Black neighborhoods. For decades it remained a cornerstone of the city’s African American social and cultural life, supported by clubs, concerts, and independent businesses that built an ecosystem around the music. Originally the home of San Francisco’s first electric railway, the Geneva Car Barn & Powerhouse is the one of the last physical reminders of that historic transit system. Now owned by the City’s Recreation and Parks Department, the historic building is being transformed into a cultural and educational community center. On the occasion of the proclamation of Eleusina as the 2021 European Capital of Culture, architect Constantine Bouras completed, for ASPROFOS Engineering, the architectural design for the conversion of two preserved buildings of the former paint factory IRIS into a multipurpose cultural center. Caption The repurposing of the buildings produces a space for theater, cinema, music, congresses, art exhibitions and other cultural activities, while part of it is home to the Aeschylus Museum. The challenge in creating an art center for the municipality of Aalter consisted of transforming the existing shell spaces into an open, technically and acoustically effective building. An additional challenge was the fact that the building consisted of 2 floors below ground level. It was decided to retain all structural beams and columns and to place the entire building in a monotonous concrete-grey base.
