The Fallen Church
Designing a place of events means to take in consideration a series of complex needs, many of them derive from the historical evolution of the space. As a matter of fact, over the centuries, the way of performing and watching performances are evolved and adapted to the new way of expressing the art of representation. The proposal for the Fallen Church aims to offer an innovative approach that is valid both for traditional performances and above all for contemporary experiments that see the active participation of audience in the event.

Situated within the Morris Lapidus/Mid-20th Century Historic District, Fontainebleau Miami Beach stands as a living testament to Miami's architectural legacy. Beyond its rich history, the hotel is now setting the course to a promising future: Nichols Architects are currently bringing to life an impressive new convention center facility to the property.Nichols Architects and Fontainebleau are not strangers to each other. Back in 2002, a $1 Billion renovation was initiated on the property, spearheaded by Nichols team. Now, as the hotel prepares to usher in a new era of grand events, our team has been brought back onboard. This time, we turned to the hotel’s storied past for design inspiration.

CAMS 2022 is a symposium about Cellular Aging and Metabolism.
Baliza Norte was in charge of the branding and furniture design for this simposium. The graphic identity of the event draws inspiration from a technique used in analyzing cell aging. This method involves the addition of chemical agents to cell culture plates, with color changes being monitored as a result.

The Distillery of Modern Art started as a warehouse, and Vickers Design Group converted it into a distillery, tasting room, art gallery, and event space.

Copper is used to accent the space and unite the different areas of the building. The distillery portion is a square rotated 45 degrees, so it breaks the grid and becomes a feature element no matter where you stand in the tasting bar or event space. As the heart of the business, the still is visible from almost every space, and you feel as if you are right inside the distillery. This is Bloomberg’s first flagship Tech Hub on the West Coast. The new space, completed in May 2015, is both a workplace for Bloomberg’s software engineers and an event space to help foster connections between Bloomberg and Silicon Valley.

The design juxtaposes new elements against the exposed raw materials of the building shell and translates the form and geometry of the exterior ornamentation.
