CAMS 2022 is a symposium about Cellular Aging and Metabolism.
Baliza Norte was in charge of the branding and furniture design for this simposium. The graphic identity of the event draws inspiration from a technique used in analyzing cell aging. This method involves the addition of chemical agents to cell culture plates, with color changes being monitored as a result.
The symposium furniture is a three-dimensional interpretation of this graphic concept.
It provides wind shielding and fulfils the specific fuctions for the event (scientific posters exhibition, bar and catering), being at once part social hub, part signpost.
This project was designed and built during the COVID 19 pandemic, restrictions in Spain were harsh and variable, affecting the design of gathering spaces. The furniture helps to divide attendees into small groups, fostering idea exchange and adherence to restrictions simultaneously.
MDF boards, shaped by CNC milling techniques, were utilized in crafting the furniture. These boards slot together to form sturdy structures, necessitating only a minimal amount of metallic hardware to ensure enhanced safety.
It can be flat packed for storage and reused in the next edition.
