The Nest House

Rather than designing around rooms, The Nest House was designed around routines. Every space responds to the daily rituals of a young family, transforming ordinary moments into intuitive experiences through thoughtful planning, hidden functionality and carefully considered design. From the very beginning, the project focused on understanding how the family lives, gathers and moves throughout the day. The result is a home that feels effortless to inhabit, where every element has a purpose while maintaining a calm, uncluttered atmosphere. Under Rimu

Set within one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s oldest suburbs, Under Rimu is an alteration and addition to a heritage villa for a family of five. The original house retains its familiar street presence—albeit with significant restoration and a new colour scheme—while contemporary forms unfold behind it around established native trees. The addition reworks the geometry of the villa through a series of angled roofs and clerestory windows, drawing sunlight deep into the plan. A realigned central hallway now runs from the original porch to the rear garden, opening long views through the house. To the east, a restored breakfast porch reconnects bedrooms, living spaces and the study with morning sun and views towards the maunga.... More

Sunny Sky House

Villa, bungalow, state home; regardless of typology, much of our existing housing stock was templated rather than designed to connect with the specific qualities of a site. Among the numerous renovation projects we undertake, a typical goal is to address deficiencies in light and outlook while strengthening connections to gardens, or to break discrete rooms into larger spaces that better cater to the needs of family life. As was the case in this project. Samuel Hartnett The key to efficient use of the budget on this project was to maximise space within the existing footprint, reorganising the floorplan to orient living spaces towards garden and sun, and merging the backyard and living spaces into a large indoor-outdoor area. SAR

Constructed on historic foundations of Soviet-era military units to safeguard the Baltic coastal dune habitats as one of the world’s most vulnerable marine regions, this seaside residence introduces an alternative path of sustainable architecture. The site was discovered with four grass-covered and timeworn military bunkers, now transformed into one main home and two guest houses for a family of three generations. Alvis Rozenbergs Alvis Rozenbergs Located on the Latvian coastline, where northern winds are strong enough to bend century-old pines to their will, summer home SAR was created as a sacred heaven for a multi-generational family. From the two-floor hall to the mezzanine floor, you can reach the staircase between the hall and the dining hall. Casa Vanessa & Vitor

In Arujá, a small city in São Paulo’s metropolitan region, a family home built by the client’s grandfather was passed down through generations. Now the property belongs to his grandson, who lives there with his wife and two children. Seeking to preserve the emotional legacy of the space while adapting it to contemporary family life, the couple turned to Afetto Architecture for a thoughtful renovation. Luiz Franco Led by architects Vitor Guimarães and Giullia Aguiar, the project focused on updating key areas of the home — including the living room, the couple’s bedroom and bathroom, and the eldest child’s bedroom. Silverlinings

Washed up from the beach a robust and heavy mass thumps its self-down on top of the rise, offering up an entry path through sand dunes, layered beach grass and aged timber planks. Below a heavily textured board form concrete rock shelf a recessive deep void invites one into a dark entry and the beginning of a sequence of silver lined spaces. Tatjana Plitt Silver Linings rests on Melbourne’s bayside beach front unashamedly asserting its presence along the promenade of fishbowls overlooking the bay. A project of exploration and experimentation, of restraint and control, a project of patience and architectural endeavor. Tatjana Plitt The brief was very particular and one that required extreme discipline and restraint, a restr... More

Toxho's house

Home and medical office in Xhoris. On the street side, the stone walls privatize the house and preserve the slopes of the field. The open front yard to access the dwelling is reinforced by the carport made of a cantilevered slab on two sides. crahayjamaigne The difference in level between the street and the garden led up to a half level distribution. This interior layout creates perspectives between spaces through the central staircase. crahayjamaigne On top of the stones walls, the wood volume develops freely along the length as needed :- to realise a terrace, the mass is “dug” and the cladding change to black panels- in front of some windows, the wood continues and gives some intimacy to the inside spaces. crah... The Green House - Oslo

MORFEUS arkitekter were engaged by clients Astri and Henrik Botten Taubøll in 2017 to design a new home on their recently inherited property, Sørbyhaugen 24 in Oslo. The choice fell jointly on transforming and extending the original house from 1933, even though the house was in a poor condition. The result is a contemporary, unique architectural object with a distinctive local, historical anchoring with roots to the traditional functionalistic wooden villas of Norway. North Balwyn Multi-Gen Housing

The owners of BENT Pavilion felt it was time to down-size, but were adamant that downsizing shouldn't mean down-grading (and we whole-heartedly agreed)!  At home in Balwyn North and wanting to remain close to friends and family, they hatched a plan to keep their parents close by and continue to enjoy the space and lifestyle they love by joining forces to build a home ... together. Tatjana Plitt Far from moving back in with the olds or building a granny flat out back, this multi-generational development is designed to give everyone the privacy and autonomy they need.  North Balwyn Multi-Gen Housing follows the traditional suburban subdivision with a home at the front and one at the back of the block.  Of course a subdivi... AP111

The project was conceived with the concept of “Architecture that Embraces”. Clients really like to entertain, hold events at home, and have a large family, so it was important that the rooms were suitable for entertaining. Carol Karnib Carol Karnib Carol Karnib Carol Karnib Carol Karnib During the renovation, some mishaps in the MEP installations have occurred, which is normal for apartment renovations, especially as the property had never undergone renovations. FRONDAL

With a site of moderately marked topography, this house adapts and permeates very well with its context. It was conceptualized under the premise of seeking a single level in the majority of the house, making it a discreet and private project. It moves in a square shape in such a way that we prioritize the view and green areas for social areas and we propose a body for the bedrooms that generates privacy and is oriented towards the South. Both elements are subtly isolated by a common patio. Arturo Arrieta Arturo Arrieta Under this criterion we contain the public spaces and green areas and organically the composition functions as a division between the other houses. The architecture in the social area presents a modular system of r... More

Pouaka Waikura Rust Sheds

The 1.8-hectare site is a natural formed terrace snuggled into the gentle north sloping base of Queenstown Hill in the South Island of New Zealand, overlooking the untamed Shotover River which disappears around the bend below. Simon Wilson The clients are staunch locals having spent most of their life in a modest cottage on the same road. They have owned the site for twenty years: planting and tending to the now mature grapes on the back terraces. They sought a permanent home here: a rural home for their mature years where they would be happily making wine and tinkering on old cars. Simon Wilson Simon Wilson The home consists of four robust rectilinear pavilions laid informally along the terrace. The materials include off t... More

EG House

The project for this house was developed in two different moments: the initial project made in 2008/2009 and executed afterwards (the work was completed in 2011), and the reform project and completion of the interiors carried out between 2020 and 2022. Between one stage and another, the owners moved from Brazil, the two children grew up and the house was almost sold.
