Respecting the original architectural language, the design of the extension was based on a deep understanding of the existing home. The aim was to maintain aesthetic coherence and visual integration so that the extension doesn't appear as a forced addition, but rather a natural evolution of the residence. This is a six-story standalone building located in Taichung. The owner comes from one of the few modern families with 3 generations living under one roof. With the original layout, the spaces were closed off from each other, and the functionality of the space was poorly organized. We broke down the barriers created by the original layout, providing a space that allows the family to reconnect with ease. The work we propose concerns a residential unit located on the first floor inside a historic and listed building in the ancient center of Verona. The context is characterized by the original characteristics of the seventeenth century building itself, such as the structure equipped with decorated wooden beams, the terracotta flooring preserved and partly taken up with the same hand-worked format, the large tuff portal inside only emphasizes the context in which we operated. The first stage consisted of designing a walk-in closet, and for the second stage, the entire public area of the apartment was intervened.
