Located in Jumeirah Islands, the Khurana villa showcases thoughtful design. Created by Dubai-based design studio Designsmith, every aspect of this home has been meticulously planned to suit the unique lifestyle of its residents.
From the beginning, the design team, led by Mihir Sanganee, the Co-founder and Creative Director at Designsmith, understood the homeowners’ fondness for socialising and hosting guests. This understanding shaped the design approach. Using rustic iron sliding doors, the living space is divided, offering cosy seating areas when closed and an open, spacious environment for entertaining.
The remodelling of this family home took nearly two years, coinciding with the global pandemic. The owners, long-term residents of Dubai, had a clear vision: a residence that would captivate attention while radiating warmth and hospitality. To bring their dream to life, they entrusted Designsmith with the overall design concept. Additional land adjacent to the villa was acquired, prompting Designsmith to reconfigure the floorplan and add an extra bedroom by eliminating the double-storied entrance hall, while expanding the living space on the ground floor.
With guests in mind, an additional downstairs toilet was thoughtfully included, complemented by luxurious powder rooms adorned with grand backlit panels of onyx. The kitchen, boasting an elegant Italian finish, was discreetly placed next to the formal dining area, ensuring convenient access for staff while maintaining the privacy of the main living room. Instead, a custom-made bar takes centre stage, becoming a natural gathering spot within the spacious room.
To meet the homeowners’ desire for exclusivity, all the custom furniture in the villa was crafted by FlorenStyle, an esteemed Italian furniture manufacturer based in Dubai. Their expertise in creating bespoke furnishings perfectly aligns with the vision of the design team.
