Haus A/Z

In Utting am Ammersee, Arnold / Werner realized a consistently sustainable and ecological residential building in solid wood construction. Set within the context of a traditional village structure with mature trees, the house was built near the lake shore as an experimental self-initiative addressing the theme of future-oriented, resource-conserving construction. A central design approach was the use of organic, local, and recycled materials—chiefly wood, which was employed for the load-bearing structure, thermal insulation, interior finishes, and the vibrant green facade with vertical slats. The exterior walls of the house, covering approximately 200 square meters of living space, were prefabricated off-site, transported to the const... More

Il Parco dei Gelsi

"Il Parco dei Gelsi" is a residential complex funded by private investors that was born from the desire (which we share with the clients) to create a housing area with a low environmental impact. Andrea Ceriani Andrea Ceriani The project consists of nine apartments of different sizes, each of which has a privileged relationship with the outside thanks to the gardens and the large balconies. The project is based on the principles of bio-architecture with the aim of paying attention to harmony and balance. The basement, where the garages and technical rooms are located, will be built using traditional technologies based mainly on the use of reinforced concrete. CASES DELS MESTRES RENOVATION

Right next to La Floresta School, in an area of outstanding natural value bordering the wooded mass of the Parc de Collserola, there is a building that was originally used to house the teachers who worked at the school. This place was popularly known as Les Cases dels Mestres. The building was constructed in 1969 and designed as a typical low-cost housing development. These buildings, severe and honest, responded to some standard features: simple and unprejudiced volumetrics, slightly traditional language, very short structural bays, and rational and limited-cost construction methods. The houses lost their raison d'être, and the dwellings fell into disuse. Despite this, they remained present in the population's memory, and decades lat... More

BLAF architecten experiment through their dynamic House hkZ design with the essential components of the single-family home

Belgian practice BLAF architecten is known for exploring complex housing sustainability, affordability, and circularity issues. With House hkZ in Zoersel, they experiment with the essential components of the single-family home itself. Stijn Bollaert The central design concept is a heated residential home with adjacent private outdoor space. The two programs sit within an outer volume of concrete piers, strategically infilled with masonry, and topped by a concrete ring beam that supports the varying roof shape. This nature of this external volume defines a boundary without closing the living spaces off from the surrounding environment. Stijn Bollaert The largely open boundaries of the outer facade run parallel to the plot b... More
