The new house stands on the site of a previous rural building which was carefully demolished to recover all possible materials, including: the original bricks, some beams and old tiles. Metropolis tower is placed to preserve sunlight in the park, maximize permeability, encourage connectivity for pedestrians, cyclists and maximize visual porosity. The design demonstrates the ambitious integration of private development and a publicly accessible active park oriented urban community for Phnom Penh. The architecture evokes regional landmarks and a sense of wonder, the site is east of the Bassac River, provided natural design inspiration. This building from the early 20th century is a structuring element of the Gobelins district and is distingued by its height, its concrete structure and its classic brick façade. As building has undergone multiple technical additions, its heritage and architectural quality has faded.
