The design utilizes a language of circles to settle the plan elements. A hardscape zone of black and white granite cobbles connects the mass of the architecture with a circular corner plaza of equal visual weight. Twenty-seven large granite boulders paired with Sabina chinensis define the edge of the circular plaza. The boulders also mask a temporary parking requirement by acting as curbstones. The Ukrainian city of Dnipro has opened a renovated Uspenska Square, one of the oldest squares in the city. It was established more than 200 years ago. Dnipro is now an industrial city with over a million dwellers located 100 kilometers from the front line of the Russian-Ukrainian war. The reconstruction of Uspenska Square began in 2021, with 80% of the work completed, but in February 2022, the construction was forced to stop due to the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine. But despite the ongoing war, the city is still trying to live: IDPs are coming here, and residents who left the city are returning. The Reiwa building is part of a rapidly changing district, and a key component in the renewal of the area between Saint Ouen town hall and the Paris ring road. Our ambition for this building, delivered in 2024, was to articulate several scales: that of the Greater Paris area, linked to the image of the head office, on a large scale. Dongshan Island is a healthy community-based neighbourhood creating an alternative urban typology for urbanization in China. It combines the comforts of urban living with the rural DNA of the site and is focused on creating a healthy community. Yet, the density is high: 100 homes per hectare. A NEW CAENDORP: TO AN ESTATEThe Caendorp in Heiloo had a rich history since 1968 as a bungalow park in the green countryside. This greenery has been used by the architects as a starting point, resulting in a sustainable and modern housing project, that new residents will enjoy immensely.
