There was no such thing as 'too much' for this truly one-of-a-kind condo in Seattle's Belltown neighborhood; these amazing clients truly love mixing colors and patterns. We partnered with DeForest Architects and Lochart-Suver to realize this unique residence. That requires looking back with affection but without nostalgia.   When we were asked to carry out the restoration of "LH135" building, as opposed to completely transforming the spaces, our main concept sought to embrace the valuable elements of the original industrial design and made them look towards the future. Footprint Architects were commissioned to provide an extension to an existing leisure centre in Bournemouth for BH Live. The proposal improves the facilities for the gyms existing members, providing space for additional equipment and classes, whilst allowing the client to keep up with its commercial competitors. The extension is clad in charred timber cladding, providing a varied palette of natural textures and tones in response to the surrounding pines, whilst concealed glazing minimises overlooking and the noise impact upon the surrounding area. The new built bulk-waste depot in Munich reflects with its design the established signal colour orange which everybody in Munich and Germany knows from the Orange-coloured clothing, orange vehicles and containers from waste collection. The translucent orange facade, with the orange coloured containers in combination with the strip of exposed concrete build a union which reflects and combines all functional processes. The façade panels from Rodeca serve as rain screen application for better heat insulation as well as in non-insulated areas they serve as weather protection. A barn conversion in the picturesque village of Witham Friary, near Bath, was completed using 10,000 Acme Natural Orange Double Camber clay plain tiles and plain angle clay ridges. The Natural Orange colour was selected to contrast with the local stonework and the traditional cedar shingles used on the vertical elevations and the central atrium between the two buildings. The unique double camber format of the clay plain tiles also adds a subtle texture and character to the roof with accentuated light and shade. More
