The new public space by COFCO is created to connect the adjacent mixed use development of Joy City with Baozixi Park in Wuhan, China. Acting as an ‘ecology line’, the design consists of a public promenade that subtly connects a string of five lightweight, elegant pavilions to one another with a series of substantial civic social spaces that are programmed to foster interaction and collaboration from the nearby metro station arrival to the adjacent Joy City. Standing atop a hill overlooking the park entry, focused on the panorama of the foothills of the Rocky Mountains beyond, the Sunset Pavilion marks the intersection of multiple paths along a regional trail system. In concert with 8 additional pavilions throughout the park, the Sunset structure speaks to the simplicity of construction and the honesty of natural materials. ‘THE A LAB’ has created a pavilion symbolizing the energy city for ‘Fablab Asia Network 5’ at the Seoul Innovation Park. The pavilion is designed as a combination of cube boxes, which are units that make up the city. Solar panels and wind turbines installed in the pavilion produce electricity and provide it to the citizens who visit. Citizens can access the energy city virtual space through a digital medium called ‘QR code’ decorated on the elevation. Kuth Ranieri was engaged by Tom Leader Studio Landscape Architecture to design several pavilions for Lion Mountain/Shishan Park in Suzhou, China. The pavilions offer amenities along the ring road that surrounds the historic mountain and adjacent lakes. They include the Flower Pavilion (a 4000 SF Tea House), the Lake Pavilion (1,000 SF), the Sports Pavilion (13,400 SF), and the Restroom Pavilion (a 2,000 SF prototype that will proliferate throughout the park). Our response to the challenging architectural installation competition near one of the most important historic gardens “Afif Abad Garden” in Shiraz, Iran was PAUSE.PAUSE is the childish adventure feeling and inspiration that we have not experienced since so many years ago. PAUSE tries to revive the feelings that we have been ignored. Feeling of brick texture tactile; hearing the sound of our steps on the metal sheets, looking at the sky which we pass under of it every single day without any attention to it, not even trying to pause and enjoy watching it. At the heart of the Bonjour India festival, the ‘Bonjour India Experience’ pavilion was a one-of-its-kind travelling exhibition at the intersection of art, architecture, design and urbanism. The 9-meter-high, 800 square metre and 40 tonne installation travelled approximately 3500 kilometres from the iconic India Gate in Delhi to Cross Maidan Garden behind the historic Churchgate Station in Mumbai to become the star attraction of the world’s largest book fair in Kolkata. It welcomed more than 180,000 visitors over a period of 30 odd days, spread over the 3 cities. Deployable Structure Pavilion is a bio-based space structure built for the Social Service of Commerce SESC. The Pavilion is located on the banks of the Perequê-Açu River in the city of Paraty, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Erected on a green campus on the seaside Atlantic Forest and planned to roof an open space, without walls or partitions, hosting cultural and social activities. After the demolition of the previous Mees Pierson headquarters on the Rokin in Amsterdam, which was barely 25 years old and in good condition, ABN AMRO realized that they had to change their ways. The design of a new building of the bank was already finished and they had already started working on the concrete foundation when a violent discussion about corporate social responsibility erupted within the bank.
