This project was initiated in order to reconceive the interior design of an existing space. The client sought a space that would be an unfamiliar landscape which could challenge peoples’s expectations, so as to create unexpected social outcomes.Inspired by aspects of physics and astronomy, the form complements the celestial theme of the larger project. Looming over the seating area, a highlight of the space is a custom-commissioned copper plate of the planet Venus, created in collaboration with artist Paul Taylor. Castello Tafuri is an accommodation facility and events location situated in a small fishing village in Sicily, on a rocky cliff top overlooking the sea. Designed as a private residence in 1933, it was only completed in 1964, when it was converted into a hotel. It was subsequently bought by the Tafuri-Cantone family, who started completely redeveloping it. The project, involving both architectural redevelopment and a completely new lighting scheme, was coordinated by the architect Fernanda Cantone. Her meticulous light planning provided for the use of LED lighting fixtures from L&L in a number of different applications. After forty years, the Noorderparkbad in Amsterdam is the successor of the Floraparkbad. Round and wavy shapes dominate in the swimming pool. These shapes make the surrounding park and the building flow smoothly together. Just like the former bathhouses in the neighborhood, the Noorderparkbad is supposed to be a meeting place. The swimming pool is the most sustainable one in the Netherlands, but that is not all: in May 2016, the Noorderparkbad was named winner of the Amsterdamse Architectuurprijs 2016. The Ekipe sports centre stands on the slopes of Mount Etna, in an urban area for years forgotten, full of typical 80s-style buildings, in a heterogeneous urban context. The attempt at redevelopment has resulted in an impressive sports centre, which hosts a wide variety of facilities: from swimming pools for water sports, to the outdoor areas with soccer fields, fitness rooms, areas for relaxation and refreshment or entertainment for the little ones. ULMA has participated in the construction of the facade of the Hotel Ladera, awarded the Prix Versailles for facades 2017. The new Hotel Ladera, located in Santiago de Chile, has created an innovative facade with avant-garde design. Part of that design is composed by the ULMA ventilated facade, providing a slate-like appearance to some areas of the building. The earth texture and dark colour were chosen to achieve the stone-like appearance required. This facade system provides greater technical and aesthetic durability and protects against damp and outdoor temperature changes, providing energy savings and creating a healthier environment for the end user. The new stadium of FC Krasnodar was designed by the architecture office gmp architects from Germany and the Russian office Speech Architecture. The monumental façade of the elliptical stadium is a total of 43 meters high and covered with light-colored travertine. The towering wooden veil that surrounds the new south stands of TD Place at Lansdowne, creates an iconic image for the new stadium complex, setting it apart as a unique legacy landmark and connecting it to the surrounding natural environment of the Rideau Canal.
